HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. — Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond appointed a new chief deputy on Thursday.
Austin Garrett will begin serving in his new role on February 8th.
Garrett is a 25-year veteran of the Chattanooga Police Department, and is a P.O.S.T. certified law enforcement officer.
He most recently served with Chattanooga PD as a Lieutenant for Tactical and Traffic Operations. He was responsible for responsible for managing and leading operations, planning, and ongoing development for 13 specialized units.
In his new role as chief deputy, Garrett will be responsible as the sheriff’s executive administrator, overseeing all law enforcement, corrections, and civilian personnel.
