HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. — Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond appointed a new chief deputy on Thursday. Austin Garrett will begin serving in his new role on February 8th. Garrett is a 25-year veteran of the Chattanooga Police Department, and is a P.O.S.T. certified law enforcement officer.
